During WW2 there were many American airmen stationed around Stebbing because of the airfield nearby. 60 years later lots of US veterans were invited to a reunion in the village.

When they arrived, it was noted later on, that there were a number of ladies of a certain age who were conspicuous by their absence. Draw your own conclusions!
