I was six years old when the War ended so I can't remember an awful lot. The War hadn't seemed to have touched us much in Brid but I do remember the other children at school which was St. George's. Many had come from Hull as evacuees to escape the bombing and stayed with their families when the War ended.They mixed in with us local kids with no effort and moved on to Oxford Street Junior School with us when the time came. Being kids we took advantage of every opportunity presented to us, never mind the danger.I remember playing in the bombed buildings in the town, particularly the Palace Cinema Car Park and St. Anne's Old Folk's ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ where we formed gangs as kids do.
