One night during Easter in 1941 there was a massive air raid - a beautiful moonlit night. Iwas on fire watching outside the billets and they were actually aiming for the gunsite and the bomb dropped but didn't explode. A plane dropped out of the cloud and started machine gunning - I jumped back and only just missed being hit - I believe someone must have been watching over me during the war - I was so lucky.
