May Blitz, 1941, I was thirteen years old and we had an air raid shelter. We had special siren suits (like Winston Churchill). I didn't remember eating in the shelter, but I do remember hearing airplanes- German planes. Bombers lit up the area in Norris Green. A bomb fell three doors away from our house in Norris Green, but didn't go off. The bomb was meant for the Factory in Kirby but didn't find it. It punctured a water main. There were four dropped fire bombs and shrapnel that the lads picked up. I started work at 14 years of age.
