This story has been submitted to the People's War website by Andrew Livesey of the Lancshomeguard on behalf of Nell Taylor and added to the site with her permission.

I would be about 17 or 18 years old when a bomb hit the backs of our houses in Holden Street, off Sefton Park, Liverpool. We all heard the bang, my two sisters and one brother.
We all used to go to a communal air raid shelter at 6 pm each night to get ready for the oncoming Bombers. Liverpool was heavily bombed each night.
