When war broke out I was stationed in Aden as a regular in the Air Force. We worked from 7am in the morning to about 1.15 in the afternoon and then we had free time to do whatever we wanted. I liked to play snooker and listen to the radio. On the day war broke out I put the radio on and heard the announcement that we were now at war with Germany. I rushed back upstairs and told all my mates but no-one believed me, they all thought I was pulling their legs.
