‘Arriving eventually in Naples I spent a few days in Transit, before travelling by lorry to Barletta 98 BGH. During my service here, we had a visit from Lady Montbatten, who shook our hands and complimented us on the service we were giving.
After a short period, the patients were evacuated home, and I went to the 22nd BGH in Mestre near Venice for a few moments, before going to the 31st BGH in Klagenfurt, Austria. It was hear that I met my husband to be, who was Sergeant in the SIB, and came from Carshalton in Surrey. We were both demobbed in the autumn of 146, and got married at Christmas that year.’
