Cheating.
Auntie Lilly grew a crop of potatoes in her garden. She had to report the crop to the States' Potato Board with a view to their being taken for the common good. Before the inspectors arrived, she carefully went round each plant to take some of the tubers for her own use.
Dad used to visit 'Uncle' Tom Camp in La Ramée each day with a green bottle so he could bring me home illicit milk extra to the ration. On one occasion, while Tom was milking the cow, the States Milk Yield Inspectors arrived and Dad was likely to be discovered so had to be unceremoniously bundled milk and all, out of a window at the back of the barn
