My Grandmother was looking round a house in
Sabden shortly after WW2 and was shown the premises by a smartly dressed young man. Hoping to buy the property she was shown round the rooms upstairs and comented on how nice the wallpaper was in one of the rooms. The wallpaper was a lovely blue colour with white markings on it. Removing her glasses to take a closer look she noticed the words Tate and Lyle repeated throughout the room - to her astonishment the walls were lined with hundreds of bags of Sugar.
