The title tells that this is going to be a long story. Born in 1916 I grew up in the aftermath of the 1st World War and as a boy was an an avid reader of war stories. At an early age I resolved that if it ever looked that another war was likely then I would make sure that I was fully trained and not like the conscript cannon fodder of the previous carnage. After PM Chamberlain and Munich I realised that war was ineveitable
