It was the night of the November Blitz. My father Sydney was in the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Guard and a Street Warden. On this night he was on duty in our road in Coundon when he heard aeroplanes in Priory Row.
He heard the noise of the bombs and saw them fall above our house. After the explosions he rushed into our house to see my mother and brother Michael were ok. Everything was dark and he only had flashlights. Suddenly we heard him laughing because all he couls see was three pairs of eyes-alive-but everyone covered in soot which came down the chiminey. Three people-one the district nurse and my dog, were killed. Our house was unsafe and we never lived there again.
