Message 1 - Isle of Bute’s contribution in World War 2

Posted on: 30 March 2005 by Innisfree45

The Isle of Bute’s amazing contribution to the war effort is at last being brought to public attention. For example, the X-Craft (midget submarines) that engaged in the Terpitz mission trained in the waters around Bute, and left from Port Bannatyne on Bute. With the assistance of funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Bute has put together a wonderful programme of commemoration. For more detail on this programme, more details of Bute’s war involvements, and facilities to contribute to the website’s forums, you are invited to access the website “V-Day - Bute Remembers” at www.bute-gateway.org/vday
