I was born in 1939 and my father went away quite soon afterwards into the Leicesters originally.
He was sent for and had to go to Wigston to the camp there.
In 1944 a letter was sent to say my father was missing. I remember me and my mum going to various places for information about people who were missing.
A few months afterwards we were told he had been found dead.
I do remember certain things about his - I remember him coming home on leave with his gun, but he wasn't able to come home very often.
It's surprising how well I do still remember him.
