To begin with I worked at Mumby's during the war doing tailoring. I worked on Nava lunifroms but I had to give that work up eventually because the fluff from the material got onto my chest and caused me problems. I got called up to do war work and went to work in AV Roes. First I was on the dispersal ground and then went into maintenance where I worked shovelling coal into the boilers and making sure the heating worked. That was hard work butyou kept fit. I left that job when I had my baby towards the end of the war.
