Mr. Frederick Thomas Morgan & Mrs. Florence Joyce Morgan. 1938-39. Salisbury Plain training camp.

This photo was submitted by Mrs Sylvia Young from Bristol.
Taken around 1938/9. Mr Fredrick Thomas Morgan 'Ginger' and Mrs Florence Joyce Morgan.
Fredrick was a tank gunner instructor so stayed on British soil. He trained the troops before they were posted. He was blinded at the age of 24 when on training operation at Castle Martin. During training shells became stuck in the tank gun breach. When Fredrick complained to his superiors about shells sticking he was told to carry on. Whilst attempting to clear a blockage the whole thing exploded and he lost the sight in both eyes. He also lost a finger and thumb in the accident.
