The Reconstruction Fund appeal poster, showing the damaged Regiment Chapel of Manchester Cathedral

The Cathedral was restored after the War by Sir Hubert Worthington, the Cathedral Architect, who had fought with the Manchester Regiment in the First World War. The restoration of the Regiment Chapel was a cause dear to his heart, and he is commemorated by the Fire Window installed in his memory after his death in 1963.
