The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Guard marching in Congleton

This photo and caption were submitted to the People's War site by K. Helsby of Congleton Library on behalf of John Gibson and has been added to the site with his permission. The author fully understands the site's term and conditions.

Here we are marching along Swan Bank (the Lion & Swan pub/hotel in the background) shortly after the war began. The war started in September, and I turned 17 the following month. I am the end soldier in the third row from the right. I joined the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Guard when I was 16.
