This poem was written during the Seige of Tobruk by a serviceman with the Advanced Ammunition Depot when it became obvious their division wasn't being relieved when the 9th Australian Division was replaced by British troops.

It should be sung to the tune of:
The Little Boy that Santa Claus forgot'.

'We're the A A D that G H Q forgot,
And goodness knows we didn't want a lot.
A week or two in Cairo,
Just to have some beer and fun.
A trip around the Burkas,
To play with Lily's b * m!
But no it doesn't seem to be our lot,
Those foolish joys are not for us to plot.
But if they don't make it snappy,
We will all end up bomb happy,
We're the A A D that G H Q forgot!!'
