My grandpa was only a little boy during the Second World War. He lived on Eleanor Street, Darnall, Sheffield 9 near to the steelworks during the war.
The German’s decided to bomb this area as the steelworks produced weapons that were used during the war.
As the sirens began to whirl, German bombers raced over the houses as people rushed to their bomb shelters.
Him and his family were bombed out of their house but fortunately nobody was killed.
My grandpa now knows that when the Germans were planning where to attack, they decided to target his street as a main area to bomb.
