I TOOK MY MOTHER UP TO TRAFALGAR SQUARE ON SUNDAY MAY 8TH UNFORTUNATELY WE WERE TOO EARLY FOR THE PARTY. MY MOTHER WAS THERE ON V.E DAY AT 16. WE WERE AMAZED THAT SHE WAS THERE ON HER OWN AT 16 AS WE CERTAINLTY WOULD NOT HAVE LIKED OUR DAUGHTERS UP THERE ON THEIR OWN AT 16.
WHEN WE QUESTIONED THIS MY MOTHER POINTED OUT THAT SHE WAS AT WORK AT 14 AND THAT SHE SPENT MOST OF THE WAR SLEEPING WITH HER SISTER IN THE AIR-RAID SHELTER IN THE UNDERGROUND STATION AS THEIR WAS NOT ENOUGH
ROOM IN THE HOME ONE.THEY OFTEN JUST SNEAKED OUTSIDE TO WATCH THE RAIDS, THE CITY MAY HAVE BEEN AT WAR BUT IT WAS SAFE FOR YOUNG GIRLS TO WANDER ABOUT ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT FEAR OF OTHER PEOPLE IT WAS SAFE IN THE CITY ,HER VERY WORDS.
SHE IS DESPERATE TO SEE IF ANYONE CAPTURED HER PHOTO ON V.E. DAY I TNE SQUARE. WILL TRY AND FIND A PHOTO TO ATTACH.
