ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½

Whilst I was a Land Army girl and billeted at Collingham in Nottinghamshire, our nights out were mainly spent at the pictures in Newark, when we could afford it. It was 6d on the bus and 7d to get into the pictures.

There were several RAF stations around us and from time to time they would hold dances on camp and supply transport for us via War Ag (usually lorries with seats). They would be nice evenings with record type music and sometimes airmen would play the piano or other musical instruments.

They would supply refreshments like sandwiches, cakes and pastries too. When rations were quite frugal these treats were wonderful.
