As a member of the Cipher Section, in June 1944 I encrypted the message that all aircraft should be painted with broad white stripes on their wings and fuselage.
I remember deciphering the message that the first German of General rank to be captured was by an officer in the American Rangers called Lieutenant Quackenbush.
