My father was stationed in India in 1945
A time of great unrest.

One day he was driving his Captain, Captain Millington, down a road in an Indian town, when suddenly there appeared hundreds of rioting indians armed with clubs and stones demonstrating for self rule.

They stopped the jeep in the middle of the road, and his captain said 'Walsh bring your rifle'

They got out of the jeep and faced the hordes.

It all went quiet and the captain shouted "You lot put down those weapons and go back to your homes or my man will shoot you!"

You can imagine that my father thought they were dead, but sure enough they all through down there weapons and returned to their homes.

Unbelievalbe but true.

Oh to be British!
