This story was given to me by Mr.Alfred Steed. Mr. Steed told us his war memories and they were about air raid shelters. Air raid shelters are for terraced houses with no back gardens. Mr.Steed lived in a terraced house with no back garden so he had to go in an air raid shelter. The airraid shelter had no windows and it was half the size of a garage. He said that there was one narrow door which was a gate. There was a bomb dropped near air raid shelter. Mr. Steed said that a number of families had to go into the one shelter but he was lucky because he was never cold because it was spring time. The air raid shelters were half on the pavement and half on the road. The air raid shelters were made out of cement and bricks.
