I used to live at Manor farm. It was a big farm with 6 bedrooms. If I didn't give up my house to Czech officers and their wives officials would have bilited troops in the farm. We also had visitors from the prisoner of war camp and sailors from Cholmondley castle. We used to find them work in the fields or pickling onions in the house. One of the men wanted to get together with trhe girl who worked with me. He came back to see her after the war but she had already moved on. I always used to laugh and say it was romance over pickled onions.
