At Perranporth in Cornwall, 1942, a young pilot who had escaped from Germany where he had been a prisoner of war, gave us a lecture on the topic of escape. He showed us a photograph of 3 other POW's, one of whom was my school friend Roger Daggett.

I asked of him, "When is Roger going to make his escape?" He replied, "He is studying for his degree, it will be after that!"
