I'm 94 now. During the war, I was in the army nursing service. I joined up. I suppose it was the thing to do then. I joined a Scottish unit, the 23rd Scottish. It was a very good unit. I was in the Middle East for about six years. It was a great experience. I wouldn’t have missed it for anything. I was nursing the soldiers. We ran a hospital, the 23rd military hospital. It was a stationary hospital. It was based in Palestine. Who did I nurse? Everybody who was there, sort of thing. Not so many of the Arabs. It was the army, and the Foreign Legion.
