Autumn 1940, I was attending Roundhill Secondary School. During the lunch break, a solitary German plane emerged from low clouds, heading North. I saw the cross on the side of the plane, and knew it was German. I ran down a flight of stairs, heading for the Headmasters office. Half-way down, I slipped and fell. At which point, the sirens went, so we headed down to the air raid shelters.
Does anyone else remember this incident?
