Many years after the war was long ended I flew to Australia on a holiday with a friend. We woke up early in the morning, I looked out of the window of the plane and I was convinced it was where I had been stationed during the war in India. The air steward came along as I was writing my diary and offered me the opportunity to go forward to the flight deck. On reaching the cockpit I asked the pilot if that had been Visagapatan we had just flown over. The pilot was amazed I had been able to recognise the area from the air so many years later.
