Joan Martin (nee Nicholson) c. 1941
Joan Nicholson was born in Staindrop, County Durham in 1919. She joined the ATS and became a cook.
She met Harry Martin in 1939, and they married in 1941, at the time of her marriage she was a private in the ATS.
I believe she later became a Lance Corporal, her service no. was W.62455. The only information I have about her service career is that she was a cook for the Officer's Mess. She was stationed at Aberporth (Aberforth?) in Wales. I have an address for her, "Frandeg" Aberforth, Near
Cardigan, South Wales.
After the war Joan and Harry settled in Leicester and they had three children. She died in January 1980.
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who was stationed at Aberporth, and also anyone who knew my mother during her ATS service.
