My great aunt Mrs Ivy Day received a certificate in recognition for her help in taking refugees. I have been told by my mother that VIPs also stayed with her. Bob Hope and Bing Cosby are known to have visited her at her house.

We know that 2 boys from The Owens School in London were evacuated there and still visited her after the war.

She was also in the WVS and in the Goldington church choir.
