My father died during the war and mum brought up 3 children - 1 girl, 2 boys. Life was very hard. Mum worked helping other people to do washing, shopping, etc.
Money was very tight. Grandfather helped out with money by mending shoes for people. Mum had a very hard time but always seemed to manage. She went without herself to give to us.
