Just before my husband joined the army, he wanted to go to a dance. His father wouldn’t let him and ordered him to tidy up the yard. He later found out that the church where the dance was being held was bombed; Saint Francis Saviors, by Moss Street.
We used to stand on the war and look at the barrage balloons.
