When sweets had to be put on ration, I gave all my coupons to my young sister, and when I went to serve in the Royal Navy, I used to save up, all my sweet allocation and then when I came home on leave I would bring a huge box of sweets and chocolate bars home for her. Because I never ate sweets myself for over six years, I went off sweets altogether, and have never ever since bought sweets or chocolate for myself, for over 60 years.
