This story was submitted to the People’s War site by a volunteer from ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Berkshire on behalf of Eileen Uden and has been added to the site with his permission. Eileen fully understands the site’s terms and conditions.

1)After school, on the way home a bomb had dropped leaving a huge crater in the field off London Road, where St Crispins School is now. If it had dropped a few seconds later it would have demolished our bungalow.

2) My Aunt owned a Tobacconist shop, called Phillips in Broad Street, Reading. After the People’s Pantry was bombed my aunt discovered a line of machine gun fire holes on a wall in the shop, which we had left moments before.
