My lasting Memory of World War II is…spending many long hours in the brick air raid shelter opposite our house. Sitting on a hard bench up against a brick wall. Being very envious of a little baby tucked up in its gas proof carry cot, sleeping through it. Going to a little avenue off Peel Green Road, where a stray bomb had dropped killing all the occupants of the house.
