I can remember hearing sirens when Bristol was being bombed and the whole family crowding into the pantry and sitting under the marble slab, ( very safe). It's where Grandma kept her pickle in large stoneware jars. I ate them like sweets.
I can also remember walking along the street with my Mum and hearing a low flying plane ( it did hit the railway station), my mum threw me on a wall and lay on top of me until it was all over.
