When I was in the RAF, I was posted to the Ghana Gold Coast. I had to cross the Atlantic to America. I sailed down the coast to South America, and then I crossed back to Africa crossing the equator twice. This was to avoid German u-boats. I was building air craft for duty in the Middle East.
