Barney key is my Granddad. He was the transport manager and it was his job to demobolise all the vehicles on the beach which meant he was one of the last soldiers left. As he was dealing with the vehicles he could hear the germans approaching and not only that a bomb dropped right next to him but didnt go off. He was one of the last british to get off the beach. My auntie, Barneys daughter has a diary Barney kept all throught the war and one of the frst entries is on the back page. It is a message to my grandma marrion and it is a goodbye message in case anything happened to him. Fortunatly he survived the war and he and marrion had a beautiful long life together and still to this day I have never known a couple who loved and adored each other more than them. My grandad passed away in 1983 and is still missed by all of his 5 children, 12 Grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. There is a rememberence plack for him in Tenbury Wells church where he organised the building of a staircase to the belltower.
