I was born in 1930 and before the war I remember girls dressed in black, covered in bits of cotton and wearing shawls coming home for lunch and tea. I think the mill must have closed, but the building was left standing behind a high gated wall on Liverpool Road. The mill was demolished during one of Hitler's airraids and later became housing. I wonder how long the old mill would have stood without enemy intervention?
