After the surrend on 2nd of May three of us were detailed to take a consignment of DDT to a place in the American sector of Austria; to discover on arrival that it was a concentration camp. It was a real shock; we had never seen anything like it. I cannot aptly describe the awful sight of the emaciated people wondering aimlessly around; and the smell was one I shall never forget. When the three of us left the camp we stopped on a mountainside with the intention of having a brew, but we just sat there feeling sick and we all cried.
