After the war there wasn't a lot of food about . My father knew a lot of farmers because he had to take the post to them. He had to learn to drive to do this. I was coming back from one of the farmers he knew with some flour and bread. I had to go through the fields to get back and all of a sudden bullets started wizzing pash me 'woosh, woosh'. There were some Americans shooting at me. I had to crawl down so from a distance the Americans couldn't see where i was in the corn.
