RATIONS AND WATER
Breakfast and 3 sandwiches for lunch were brought up in the darkness. Margarine was melted down and put on with a shaving brush.
Our ration of water was just above half a biscuit tin full for 8 men. We had a small heap of sand to pour some petrol, then put the tin of water on top, and then threw a match on that to heat the water. This was all we had until next morning. After 2 or 3 had used it, it was filthy.
