In 1939 i was 7 years old and for 2 years i was in the bombing of Birkenhead Mersyside and saw a lot of destruction and there were lots of casualties. In 1941 I was evacuated to LLanidloes in Wales with my school as our school had been very badley damaged. We went by train and I was very sick all the way as I am not a good traveller. When we got to our destination we were taken to a church hall and then the local residents came and chose the children they wanted. My sister and I went to the same road but with different families . I stayed with the family for 3 years and was very happy with them I am still in touch with them now after 60 years . My mother was very upset seeing us off but to us children it was a big adventure and the people who took us in looked after us very well.
