i'm Irene pugh - i'm 83 I was married in 1941-I couldnt go into the army because I was married. I went into munitions, made shells in a factory. I had to work nights as well - I worked in fishponds. I was an air raid warden in my spare time my husband was a bulder so he was repairing air-raid shelters.
one night I was walking home and bombs were
dropping - it destroyed castle street.There was hot shrapnel flying everywhere.
