Our dog, Jim, must have known when the raiders were coming along the coast. He used to bark and run down into the shelter before the siren went. All our neighbours used to say "That's the Brown's dog barking - we'd better get down the shelter". The Air Raid Warden used to ride round on his bike, blowing his whistle to warn us to get to safety and we'd already be there!
