I was in the RAF and when VE Day came I was in Palestine. While everyone else was celebrating we were confined to camp because of terrorists.
I remained in Palestine just north of Haifa for a further year as part of the peace keeping force and during this time we couldn’t relax at all - even on New Year’s Eve we couldn’t have a drink as we were expecting a raid on the armoury. I was out there when they bombed King David’s Hotel in Jerusalem.
I was finally demobbed in 1946.
