Dear Diary,
The war started on Sunday 3rd of September I will never forget that day. My birthday is in a week I will be 16 but everyone still treats me like a child. I keep telling people that I could run away to join the womens land army but nobody belives me. we are know at least 2 years into they war.
Nearly everything is rationed. I have been wearing the close that iam in for 1 week now and iam starting to smell a bit! Dad has been in the navy for around 6 mounths and I miss him like crazy I hope he is ok.
We that is my mum Gloria me and my sister Tabitha live in the country but we still get quite a lot of air raids though. All the boys in our village think its really exiting. I think there very idiotic to be honest.
I have made friends with an evacuee from Birmingham she is called Isobelle. her home was completely trashed by the bombs and her mother eventually died fo T.B. Her Father has never been nice to her he feels that her and her mother were a waste of time. She says that he had never really forgiven her mother because her mother did not give him a son.
I am writing this letter from are Anderson shelter in are garden. This air raid has been a big one. it has been over 3 hours now and Mum and Tabitha are know asleep and I am drifting off so i had better go, I hope this are raid doesn't go on for much longer they really scare me!
yours sincerley
Annabelle
