Lance Corporal Alexander Barr, 193 Field Ambulance RASC

WINSTON CHURCHILL

Always in Britain’s hour of need
Arises one with strength to lead
Throughout the history of our land
There’s always been a guiding hand.

Such a man we have today
Winston Churchill, grim, yet gay,
One of Britain’s bulldog breed
Onward to Victory, is his creed

He by his courage and his strength
Will guide us on, until at length
Once more the victory is won
Again we’ve triumphed o’er the Hun.

At various times he’s shown his power
To triumph o’er the darkest hour
When troubles seem to overwhelm
His steadying hand is at the helm.

Each one of us, in word and deed
Must follow Winston Churchill’s lead
Each one of us must give his all
In answer to our leader’s call.

By blood and sorrow, toil and sweat
We must make Britain stronger yet
No matter, then how strong the foe
The tyrant hordes we’ll overthrow.
