1942, The Book Collection.
During this time in 1942 there was a book drive. All school children were actively involved. I collected 1022 books with the use of my bogie ( pram wheels and planks.) Travelling to Radcliffe and Farnworth to relations and friends of my Grandparents on my mothers side, (Chisnall's) in Radcliffe. I recieved a certificate "which is now lost", at the Corona cinema in Little Lever. A photograph from the Bolton Evening News, is in my possession, "which at a later date will be posted on here." At about the same time and throughout the war, my Aunt Elsie Scott my Grandparents daughter, who lived at 46 Lever Street worked at Risley Armaments factory,( it's now a borstal). My Grandfather used to drive a steam wagon to Cumbria or Northumberland twice a week with munitions.
